What do you get when you put a Christmas tree in front of Zontians and friends, and say, “Decorate this”?

You get a gorgeous tree which is one of the highlights of the Rialto Square Theatre’s “Festival of Trees” – their annual week-long display of trees decorated by various organizations.
Zontian Tricia Simpson, Midwest Public Affairs Manager for ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery, was in charge of the decorating team. “Decorating this tree was a terrific example of Zontians working together in service to our community,” she says.
“The fellowship among all the decorators for the Festival of Trees is very special, and it’s exciting to be part of the behind-the-scenes effort to pull off such a beautiful public display of creativity.”
The tree is sponsored by ExxonMobil and decorated by the Joliet Zonta club. Visitors come from far and wide to view the trees and wreaths in the restored rotunda of the historic theatre. It’s an annual event gleefully anticipated by all.
Zontians, and friends of the Joliet Zonta Club came armed with tape, wire, scissors, loads of imagination and a huge sense of fun to put together “International Rose,” which will be auctioned off for the benefit of Joliet’s historic Rialto Theatre, home to artists and entertainers from across the country.
