The Joliet Zonta Club was recently awarded the 2015 Inspire Award from Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in recognition of their dedication and service to the community. The award was presented by Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center President and CEO Kathleen Rhine on Monday, April 27 during a special ceremony. Joliet Zonta President Mardi Wunderlich accepted the award on the club’s behalf.
“It was a wonderful surprise to learn that Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center was honoring the Zonta Club for our service projects and fundraising efforts that benefit women and children in our community,” said Wunderlich. “When you receive an award like this from a hospital that has been serving the very same community for 129 years, it really means something.”
The mission of the Joliet Zonta Club is to advance the status of women locally and globally. The club, made up of professional women in the Joliet area, is a service-based organization that raises funds through their annual February fundraiser. The money Zonta raises goes toward scholarships, international projects, and charities. In addition, the Joliet Zonta Club sponsors a local charity every two years. During those two years, the club’s members provide service hours, complete special projects and provide funding to the charity.
