Area Director Konnie Rodeghier installs new officers and board
At the May 14, 2013 meeting of the Zonta Club of the Joliet Area, Area Director Konnie Rodeghier (Zonta Club of Ottawa) installed new officers and board members for the coming biennium. The newly installed members will serve a 2-year term. They include President Mardi Wunderlich, First Vice-President Yolanda Reyes, Second Vice President Beth Colvin, Treasurer Ann O’Neill, Recording Secretary Cathy Lowery, Corresponding Secretary Karen Lega, and Board members Sharon Donaldson and Peggy Field. Existing board members are Karen Pastell and Anastasia Tuskey.
President Wunderlich was given the president’s pin and club gavel. All newly installed members were presented with the yellow rose, the symbol of Zonta. A board meeting with the former officers and board will be held at the end of May to finalize the hand-off of club business.
Also at the May meeting, Kate Foley was inducted as a new member. She was inducted by outgoing president Pat Perrier, and was pinned by her sponsor, April Balzhiser. Kate was also presented with a yellow rose.
To become a member in the club, a person must be in a managerial or decision-making capacity in his or her job, be recommended by a current member in good standing,

and must have the application reviewed by the Board. New members are inducted in January and May of each year. The mission of the Joliet Zonta Club is to advance the status of women locally and globally. The club raises funds for scholarships, international projects, and a local charity which is supported for a specific period of time. The club also hosts one annual fundraiser and all members are required to complete service hours in the community.
