Theresa Rincker of Frankfort was awarded a Zonta Club of Joliet Area $1000 scholarship on May 13 with a visit from Zonta Club members. Theresa graduated from Lincoln-Way East High School and plans to attend the University of California at San Diego where she will major in political science. While in high school she was team captain for the Chicago Fury Ice Hockey team, played jazz guitar and piano, sang in Madrigals, and was an officer in the International Club. In addition to these activities, she has volunteered at an immigrant and refugee ministry tutoring students whose primary language was not English, served in her school's Student Government simulation, participated in the Frankfort Black Lives Matter event, was a state representative for a national advocacy project that worked to secure rights for survivors of sexual harassment and violence, and finally volunteered at a food pantry in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood.
