Sixteen Days of Activism: Zonta Says No to Violence

Each year, Zonta International embarks on an awareness campaign to end domestic violence against women and girls. The initiative kicks off on November 25, which is the UN's International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls. The campaign concludes on December 10, which is Human Rights Day.

The Zonta Club of the Joliet Area is participating in the awareness campaign this year in a few ways. On Tuesday, November 22, at 12 pm, we will be holding a Silent Walk and Rally in downtown Joliet in the city center and old Will County Courthouse, with featured speakers, Will County Executive, Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, Will County States Attorney James Glasgow and Mary Gavin, COO of Guardian Angel Community Service. The public is encouraged to join us for this short walk and rememberance of those who have been victims of domestic violence. Our social media campaign begins as well on 11.25, concluding on 12.10, sharing facts, statistics, resources and tips relating to domestic violence. The public is encouraged to follow along and share this valuable information.
